Default What would you do if this happened???

So at a 5 handed home game last night this weird thing happend (mainly my fault) and we weren't sure what the ruling should be and it got pretty heated.

There was a heads up pot and on the river (board 828JT) sb bets and the other guy says like "ugh/man", and me sitting next to him and the game being with a bunch of friends I kinda peek at his cards (everyone kinda does this in the game) and see he has AK high. I think it's either a call or fold situation for him as the bet was about half his stack, and when another friend across the table asks to see what he has i turn over his AK (moronic move by me). Well the guy with the AK is like "wtf I might have raised dude, this pot should be split now since i'm not going to act on my hand now. The SB immediatly protests saying no (mainly because he has trip 8's, his cards still facedown). We all argued for awhile as to what to do, and the AK guy ended up leaving after we couldn't decide what to do and he wanted a split pot which the SB wouldn't do.

What would you have done and what's the right ruling?

Given the SB the pot and given the dude with AK an equal sized pot out of your stack.

Small blind must be called/raised/folded to. The pot cannot be split as it penalises small blnd and he has done nothing wrong.

You should be punished whilst your friend is compensated. Some value of the pot - not the whole pot - as your friend bemoaned the fact the he had lost the 'option' to raise.

What exactly were the odds that the trips would lay down to a raise?

By what logic does an Ace-kicker hand get to claim half a pot because some idiot turns over his cards?

HUGE KITN for you, btw- "mainly my fault" my ass. Who ELSE was at fault, here? Just because your friend try to stupidly invoke IWTSTH?

I don't know if you owe compensation to AK for saving him money or not, but some kind of bozo penalty is probably appropriate

I don't know if this was your game or not, but you should insist on the following rule changes:

1) NO PEEKING, "KINDA" OR OTHERWISE. PEEKING COSTS YOU 10% OF YOUR STACK

2) NO TOUCHING ANOTHER PLAYER'S CARDS. FLIPPING THEM OVER COSTS YOU 50% OF YOUR STACK

3) NO IWTSTH CRAP UNLESS IT'S JUSTIFIED- KITN FOR OFFENDERS

The only fair thing to do would be to immediately take the hand to showdown (so award the pot to the SB).

There is no reason to reverse any previous action as the exposed cards didn't happen until the river.

KITN for you and if this is a tournament, 10 minute penalty to boot.

a- quit looking at other peoples cards
b- quit touching other peoples cards
c- mind your own business when not in a hand

you screwed over the trip 8's guy really...so he's the one you owe money to. your friend with AK will hopefully learn not to let morons see his hands in the future

If it's my house not invite you back since it appears you didn't apologize or offer the AK guy any kind of compensation?
