Hey if you choose to go I-70 check out Gella's in Hays, Kansas. The food there rocks and we have some awesome beer as well that we brew in the building. 50% of our business is out of towners passing through and I always have people from bigger cities telling me this is some of the best food they have ever eaten. The Oatmeal Stout is award winning.

Anyway, I am a waiter there so maybe I'll see you in.

Farfenugen, I'm from St. John, KS. Gella's is awesome!!!

[censored] all you Kansas haters!!! Of course there are more scenic places, but the rolling fertile plains are beautiful, especially with the sunsets. Western OK/TX panhandle/Eastern NM is where you want to avoid. Just flat barren wasteland.

Default trip report + pics

Thanks everyone who offered advice in this thread, and particularly CORed, MicroBob, perg, grasshopper, and jcx. My trip was awesome and the drive through Colorado was rediculous. I put a full trip report with pics on my myspace .

Glad you had a good trip out. I've done the Atl -> LV drive via 40 and it was okay. Pretty boring but it went smoothly (30 hours).
