A more interesting baseball question
A major league centerfielder settles under a batted fly ball. He looks like he's about to make the routine catch when suddenly he takes off his hat and makes a fantastic basket catch with it. The ball stays in the hat and the fans go wild.
What's the ruling? Answers in white I guess.

[/ QUOTE ] That's what I gather, but I know if it is caught with the hand, or another part of the body besides the glove, it is an out, so it will be interesting to hear why, if any, exception exists for the hat.

If two fielders crashed into each other and the ball came to rest on one of them, the ball is still in play. With that in mind, I'm thinking the ball has to be in the hand or glove to be ruled an out. Once fielder grabs the ball out of his hat, the batter would be ruled out. This is a complete guess</font>
