I talked to him one night and he says he just does it when he is tired since it's kind of mindless and playing deep stacked can be stressful.

[/ QUOTE ]

that seems reasonable

Tizerd is solid.

There is a TON of money to be made shortstacking, especially at the 2k NL. Players like me, BLD, SMO/bee, play such a lag style that shortstacking is highly profitable.

I gave shortstacking a serious trial a couple of months ago, under the spoof name of "lolotrickdu." I chose the name for fun and later realized that duplicating a well known players name was probably not the most “ethical” thing, but that’s another discussion all together. In watching other shortstackers I was amazed at the marginal holdings players were willing to call a $400 all in bet with, and realized it could be profitable and at the same time low risk. So I gave it a serious shot. I kept very detailed spreadsheet records with all relavent data, including every single hand I pushed preflop, expected Ev for my hand vs. the opposing hand, vs. actual EV attained, using preflop win probabilities from twodimes. After 3.5 weeks, I quickly concluded was that while short stacking was quite profitable, playing full stack was more profitable, and although it carries a higher risk, it is a risk my bankroll could support.

I primarily have sessions now in short bursts at the end of the night before going to bed, usually when I’m tired, but sometimes do it when I’m bored or not running well.

Cardshark your cruel comment at the table after a hand, something to the effect of wishing death upon my relatives, was highly inappropriate. In my opinion it is equally inappropriate to post the intentionally misleading comment earlier in this thread, “I tried yelling at him” because your comment was not anywhere close to as benign as you implicated.

I realize how irritating shortstackers can be. They used to frustate me also. As always in poker, one should adjust to different players and varied table dynamics, and this is no different. I vary my play with shortstackers at the table, having a constant awareness of where they are and know they are a time bomb waiting to explode. I usually get the best of them now. Those who stubbornly continue to play their LAG style, call all ins with poor showdown value holdings, will be the ones getting most annoyed. I know it is irritating but adjustments are a huge part of poker, and those who do so against shortstackers will find how easy and pleasurable it is to take money from them, $400 at a time.

Cheers

Tizerd
