Default Trop room update

I spoke to a floor person there recently (I think his name was Scott ?). He said that the rumors about the room closing weren't true, and that the new location for the poker room won't happen either. He said that management decided to give them new "amenities" for the current room (shufflemasters, TV's, electronic wait list, etc...). He didn't say when this would all take place though, so I'm not holding my breath. I didn't ask him if they were going to close off the NL room behind the desk, which I heard is a done deal. Anyone hear anything different ?

On another note, the game selection there has been shrinking of late. The pink chip game has only been going on weekends with maybe 2 tables, 5/10 stud is down to 1 table, and the 3/6 O8 & any stud 8 games are pretty much dead.

i was there this past Saturday. the NL room had 2 games of 2/5 NL going and 3 games of 1/2 NL going at 1pm. this was pretty weak IMO, but i guess that's the direction the room is taking

there was 1 table of 4/8 and 1 table of the Pink Chip Game, except they didn't have it right in front of the sign-up desk like they usually do. they put the only PCG where they normally put the must-move PCG in the past. Not good.

IMO, I think they should just consolidate and upgrade what they have now. It's no longer a big player in the AC poker scene. I guess you could put it on the level of the medium-sized rooms like Harrah's, Hilton, and Showboat. The one advantage they have over those places is better game selection (4/8, pink chip, stud). The majority of AC rooms only seem to spread 1/2 & 2/5 NL, & 2/4 HE.

I can't vouch for the games themselves but I was at the Taj on Friday and Sunday this past weekend. I was at the Showboat on Friday and Saturday, and I was at the Trop on Saturday.

As far as the trop room I feel it is much better than the other two rooms. The Taj felt like I was playing in a Cafeteria and the players there were angry and rude. The showboat had too few games running and players to backfill them. I like the lighting and the amount of televisions at the trop as well as the friendlier play. The only things the trop needs is auto shufflers and an electronic queue system.

I am a social player and that is what I prefer.

Given this set of preferences, is there a reason you don't play at the Borgata? It sounds like a good fit for you.

FWIW when I was there in late July they were having trouble getting non-HE off, which as others have noted is a real shame. Still a decent room, hopefully the improvements will have a positive effect

I have always wanted to try it but never made my way over there. It is still on my list to hit in the future. I tend to stay on the boardwalk as I am unfamiliar with the public transportation in the area and I tend not to get back in the car once I park it for the stay.

Please correct or fill the following table.

I'm surprised that the Trop had trouble getting at least 1 stud game going. Up until this spring, there was anywhere from 2 to 5 stud tables going on weekdays. On weekends there was at least 4 stud games and usually 1 O8 game. Recently, Trop's floor was told to spread only two 3/6 stud & one 5/10 stud game at a time. The stud games are too slow and don't get enough rake for Trop managements' liking. The 3/6 O8 game has died out due to lack of interest, not a management decision.

Lately I've been surprised that the 4/8 & pink chip games have been shrinking.
