Default variance in $50 NL heads up

I have played about 150 HU games on absolute lately, and have about broken even. However in my last 34 games, I have counted 21 "bad beats" to lose each of those games. (what I mean is that when the blinds have been very high I have raced with my opponent holding the better hand and lost). I suppose this is normal poker variance but has anyone else experienced the extreme frustration involved when each time you are getting your money in with the best of it and still losing time and time again? Would this be considered a bad run? Or is this just part of the frustrating and challenging game that we call poker?

-- my overall record in my last 34 games has been about 7 wins and 27 losses. definitely my worst streak of my short career.

Default Re: variance in $50 NL heads up

Yes, i started playing Hu with a 65% winrate over the first 300 games or something.

Then i suddenly couldnt win anymore, it was just like the situation descriped, if i lead with 2800 to 200 chips, my opponent had won 5 all-ins in a row and every hand as an underdog, it was amazing. I really went mad.

Before that i had never lost more than 4 in a row, in that period i lost 8 matches in row and dropped over 20 buyins in a short period of time (50 matches or something).

After that i am currently break even over like 200 matches, i dont know if my game changed because of the bad run or not, really bad right now

This is unlikly but can happen, you will have to play more than 1000 games to have your winrate be very likely within +-10% roi of how you were running.

But dont let that scare you, most other form of poker have an even higher variance compared of what you can get with a decent winrate at the hu sngs.
