i'm always extreme cautious with a small overpair to the board in a multiway pot.

therefore i try to keep the pot small, so in these situations i'd just check the flop.

on the turn it's really hard to say where you stand. as MP1 reraises he announces, that he can beat top pair. as your overpair is only one above the top pair i would say you are up against either a higher overpair, a set or a made straight. i don't find many holdings here that you can beat, except a complete bluff.

i'm inclined to fold here.

With straight and flush draws on the board, and no one having raised pre-flop, you have every reason to think your 77 is good on the flop, and it's a vulnerable hand, so I like the flop bet.

I also like leading the turn, you're representing an overpair or a 6. MP1 doesn't seem scared at all, he called your flop bet and jammed the turn, so he usually has a better hand or a strong draw like A5cc. I think even with good pot odds and several outs (two 7s, probably four 5s although two of them put flushes on board), I feel a little sick but fold feeling pretty sure I'm beat.

I check fold the flop I think, maybe it's overly cautious but if I'm playing low pairs for set value (i.e a multiway pot) I've got into too much trouble too often by suddenly decieding that I didn't need to improve.

He should have raised you on the flop with an overpair or a set. I think it smells more like a draw who thinks he can win the pot by either getting you to fold or by hitting his hand, now that you are heads-up.

I think you played this well - it's not like the board is 9 8 10 and you are leading here - the board is all lows, so you win this pot uncontested some of the time and charge flush draws / 55 / 65 the other. You can do tricky things like bet again on a blank turn and then if the river blanks check and induce a bluff (which prob. won't happen, you'll get a showdown).

I think 65 played this hand too weak, but it's definitely a holding I'm afraid of. So is 67. A weakly played set is also a problem. I'd say ~60% of the time, you're dead, and another ~40% it's flush draw + overs. Looks like an easy fold.

Maybe he should have, but I have lost big stacks numerous times with exactly this type of hand when he didn't. What always happens is that my flop bet is big enough to make him happy just to call. Then on the turn, I am faced with the choice to fire a second barrel (often in the presence of an overcard) or not, this time in the 1k range. If I fire, I am often min-raised, offering me really good odds on a really ugly situation. If I don't, the pot is lost, potentially to a bluff. Yuk.

I agree that having failed to improve, we should keep this pot small, maybe getting a free look at a set on the turn or river.

umm fold... you're beating like 45o or 45dd or two overs and FD, and you have to guess for your whole stack to see if this is the case. If he had a bigger PP he still does. If he had a 6 he just turned you.

I think checking the turn is the sensible thing to do here. If you want to bet, bet smaller so at least it looks like you might have a 6.

I think you played this well, assuming you folded the turn.

He's either got a bigger pair or trip sixes.
