Playing Small PPs
How should I play my small pocket pairs. More specifically, blinds are 75/150. I usually just bet 450 and hope to steal. Assuming 6 players left, average stack (2500) and no one in the pot before me. This can be any position in my opinion since at this level it's fold or call to this raise unless an opponent is holding a higher PP.
Thanks for your posts in advance. |

Re: Playing Small PPs
It depends on what position you are in and what kind of players are left to act (loose/tight), making this question too general to answer.
It is best to save and post some example hands with reads. In general it is better when you open raise in position with tight players left to act. |

Re: Playing Small PPs
I limp with them early and during the middle stages. Lately I've been calling some pretty big raises with them because it's so worth it when you hit a set.
Late, I raise with anything decent, so I'd raise. But maybe not as much as you. Maybe to 350 in your example. |

Re: Playing Small PPs
Thanks for the responses. I really think I am overplaying my pp's. 350 instead of 450 is a suggestion I will try to incorporate into my play. At that point in the tournament I feel that I am raising in the hope that everyone will fold to my bet. I guess I am placing too much emphasis in fold equity, and not enough into getting paid off for my hands.
Did I just prove to myself that small pots are best? |

Additionally, what is the cheap/efficient software to convert hands to 2+2 from stars?

Re: Playing Small PPs
Your pairs will always be in your "pocket", your two cards are refered to as your "pocket cards".
Def fold them early on at 75/150, though. And raise to 400 in LP. |
