Default What is my river play after seemingly good turn...

Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.50/$1
6 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG+1 with :jd :as
UTG folds, [color=#cc0000]Hero raises to $5</font>, 2 folds, SB calls, BB folds.

Flop: :jc :qd :9h ($11, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: :jh ($11, 2 players)
[color=#cc0000]SB bets $8</font>, [color=#cc0000]Hero raises to $38</font>, SB calls.

River: :5c ($87, 2 players)
[color=#cc0000]SB bets $27</font>.
Uncalled bets: $27 returned to SB.

Results:
Final pot: $87

Villain is very aggressive but is not a bad player, does not show down weak holdings and is definitely an overall winner at this limit.

No I do not think Fold is even an option, its either call or raise.

Why didn't you bet flop? As played calling river is fine.

You just call river and don't raise? Why is that? I thought my hand had showdown value but I do not want to get raised as I can not stand a raise with this board on the flop.

I dont raise because the only hands i beat are KJ and jT, everything else he could have that calls a raise has me crushed. I hate the flop check. Do you usually check flop when you hit because you have showdown value?

Given the odd, it looks like a easy river call.

No I almost always bet the flop in this spot and on further analysis, I definitely should have bet the flop.
