Default sng EV vs cash games

This is a question that has been bothering me for a while.

If I'm in a cash game getting 5:1 odds to call an all-in with KK, and my opponent shows me AA, I should call because although I am a 4:1 underdog, it is still a +EV move.

However, if I am in the first hand of a SNG and faced with the same situation, is this same situation still +EV? Because four times out of five I will be eliminated/crippled, and the one time I do win I am not guaranteed to go on and win the SNG. Thanks.

How do you get 5:1 odds on the first hand?

A couple people raise a lot and then fold to the guy with AA shove.

well.. first hand you will not get 5:1, but if you call with KK against his AA shove (you BB, him SB shoving 0.6% - so AA only) you have -7.14% ev at 10/20 blinds.
with 400/800/50 blinds (giving you roughly 4.3-1) it is still -0.35% ev.
If someone limps at 400/800/50 and folds everything except for Aces, it is +0.20% to push your Kings (having 5.3-1) when SB shoves AA and you know it.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think that's very realistic. But to answer your question, pushing KK to have 7500 chips after hand 1 20% of the time is definitely +EV.

Hi my sarcastic friend, how are you today?
BTW obviously literally no one understood what OP really meant, but I'm too lazy to set up examples.

[/ QUOTE ]5:1 odds for a push on the first hand means the entire table calls 1/2 their stack before folding, except for hero and villian who push.
