College summer internship: ibanks and hedge funds
I'm an Engineering/Econ major in 3rd year and have decided that finance seems a lot more exciting.
I'm looking to apply for internships in the Chicago area and have made the following list. I looked through a ton of bank's web sites and found these that offer summer internships. I post this so others in my situation can benefit and also so anyone with knowledge can add to it, especially in the hedge fund section. I know there is always a lot of talk about discussing poker. I'm not including it in my resume but will most likely bring it up if I feel it'd be a good example to show something like working under pressure or for long/weird hours. Investment Banks Robert W. Baird Citigroup Smith Barney Morgan Stanley Merrill Lynch Goldman Sachs UBS JP Morgan Chase Lehman Bros. Giuliani Capital Advisors Houlihan Lokey Deutsche Bank Credit Suisse Christman Group BMO Capital Markets Bank of America Hedge Funds Citadel Investment Group Grosvenor Capital Management? Mesirow Advanced Strategies? Harris Alternatives? |

Re: College summer internship: ibanks and hedge funds
most of the big banks have almost all of their interns in nyc (except a few asset management kids)
citadel hires good people and pays a lot, but is known for being pretty ruthless. |

Good point, I didn't even check if the biggest ones offered internships in CHI
Looks like Goldman and Morgan Stanley are not in Chicago |

I have an interview for summer analyst position with JP Morgan at 9 am. I can tell you what type of questions they asked if you want.

[/ QUOTE ] probs too late, but gl ahnuld. also when they ask 'do you have any questions?' at the end, well one question should be 'why didn't you accept the best poker player in the world john kane into your london office for graduate trading?'. they will answer (if they phone london to see if they still had my feedback) 'he knew dick all about trading'. anyways, gl all. |

engineers rule the world? To clarify that I meant a job using the Econ degree not the Engineering one (e.g. working at merrill lynch not motorola) -- meant finance seems more exciting than engineering
