Default The maniac approach

I've been grinding it out at uNL for about 6 months now, 1st at 10NL the at 25NL and now at 50NL. I play ABC poker and grind out about 4BB/100hands, by using this approach I've slowly built my bankroll to $1000.

My buddy, whom I consider to be a bingo player recently started playing 50NL. His approach to the game goes against all the conventional uNL wisdom found on this site and others. In the space of one week he has built a bankroll of $700 for a £100 deposit, it took me 3 or 4 months to get to there.

His style of poker is different to say the least. He will frequently raise 10-20 times the blind with random rubbish like 58o. His poker tracker stats are 65/25/1.2. He has no concept of drawing odds but his super-agression means he is usually betting his draws huge, even gutshots. He puts the entire table on tilt, probably folds out stronger hands frequently with his constant overbetting. When he does hit a hand he gets paid massively as ppl start paying him off with marginal hands.

I've seen him play one session where he went from $50 to $200 in the space of an hour then 10 minutes he crashed back to $50, 60 minutes later he's back up to $300...Crazy variance. But $100 to $700 in the space of a week? Is there method to his madness?

He's just on the upside of variance atm. He's destined to go broke obviously.

Nothing more frustrating than watching someone run sick hot while playing this type of poker. It can be very difficult not to try this type of poker because it looks like a winning formula. DO NOT DRINK THE KOOLAID! Stick to basic fundamentals and compare your stacks in a couple of months or it might take a year. As the other posters have noted~ He will not be robusto for long!!
