Which would you rather have 77 or AK?

Hey,

I got into a debate with a buddy about how I rather have 77over AK. He was saying that AK is a top 5 hand and 77 is not anywhere near the list, yet 77 is favored over AK heads up, and if the flop doesn't hit, 77 is a big favorite...

What do you think? Which would you rather have...and why? Can you give me a situational example as well.

AK, more satisfaction when you hit imo, if i lose no biggy.. i hate losing mid pairs to overcards tho

AK is better. Even on missed flops, with any overcards on the board over 7, villain with AK can most likely push 77 of the hand. harder to do with 77 after an A or K or draw has hit.
