Mason has more high profile beefs than Jay-Z.

I'm surprised that he is now writing articles for Cardplayer.

[/ QUOTE ]

Really? Seems like a natural step to me.

Remember, Dave & Mason have both written for CP at one time or another.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ed Miller used to be a big part of 2+2 and they have a feud with Cardplayer Magazine since a few years back.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but consider this - What's Ed's best selling book? Ed wrote it all by himself, but Mason & Dave still put their names on the cover. And so, by extension, get a taste of the royalties that would otherwise be Ed's alone.

Sure, Ed owes a big debt to 2+2. They give him his publishing break. Ed certainly owes a lot of his understanding of the game to his Major Kong days when he was just another poster like the rest of us, trying to put it all together.

But ever since GSIH, and certainly since NLH:T&P, Ed has worked hard at "being his own man" rather than Mason & Dave's unholy love-child. Hence publishing most of his more recent articles on his own, hideously constructed, Web page rather than here on the 2+2 internet magazine.

That Ed's "break" from 2+2 and "becoming his own man", if you wish to call it that, roughly coincides with his marriage to Elaine is something for other people to speculate on.

I will only say that, after being married for several years myself, my wife keeps mine in a box on top of the refrigerator.

That's not true. Also, when we signed the contract with Ed Miller, well before the book was written, he agreed to a certain royalty rate. That never changed.

Yeah, the long and short of this is that Jeff Schulman is so out of touch with the poker community that he doesn't even know the title of the latest book written by the author he just hired.

And such an unbelievably simple fact to check made it past editing.

LOL @ Jeff & Card Player

Ed is currently working on a fourth book entitled, Small Stakes No Limit Hold ‘em: Winning Big With Expert Play. Miller is collaborating with professional players Matt Flynn and Sunny Mehta.

From Miller's bio , on his own site.

It means Ed hasn't updated his profile in while and cardplayer just copied that one.

It's better not to rehash the whole thing. Basically (IIRC), Barry Shulman made some pretty rude comments about Mason in public (at a poker table) when somebody asked him if they wanted to republish one of Mason's articles. I'm not sure if something led up to that event or not. Cardplayer and 2+2 have not done business together since. You'll notice that none of the books they sell through their site are 2+2 books. (At least that used to be the case; I haven't checked in a while).

it's contagious.
From the 2+2 front-page advertising the books PNL and SNG-Strat:

"Available for Pre-Order!!"

"Expected shipping date is July 20, 2007"
