Re: Attending championship/signature events
Football: 2002 NFCCG, Tampa Bay @ Philadelphia
Loudest stadium and best atmosphere I've ever experienced. I was in the legendary 700 level at the Vet, and when the Eagles scored on the 2nd play of the game... my god. The place was shaking. I was with five friends and we were going nuts, one of them ended up getting elbowed in the face and might have broken his nose because he bled all over the concrete. Rest of the game sucked though. Also the "TO Game" between the Eagles and Cowboys last year at the Linc. Hockey: Lots of Flyers playoff games, I think one or two in the Eastern Conference Finals, but no Finals games. One that sticks out is Eastern Conf. Semifinals between the Flyers and Pengiuns on May 7, 2000. Flyers won 6-3 and Andy Delmore (a defenseman) scored a hat trick. Best Flyers game I've ever been to. |

Does the I-AA (Football) National Championship count?
If not, then none. |

Re: Attending championship/signature events
The 1999 Fiesta Bowl, which was the championship game between Florida St. and Tennessee. Wasn't a particularly good game, I really didn't care about either team, I just went because I had a ticket. I have to say though, the Vols faithful represented really well and were very friendly.
Better, the 2001 World Series game 1 between the D-Backs and Yankees. First major sporting event after 09/11, planes fly directly over that stadium all game long, so that made me a bit paranoid. Plus the Yankees had won four of the previous five WS including the last three, so were basically a dynasty at that point that showed no signs of slowing down, so when the D-Backs got to Mussina early and blew them out it was totally unexpected and complete mayhem. |

Re: Attending championship/signature events
2004 Rose Bowl between Michigan and USC (USC wins the title, or a share of it). My first Rose Bowl so I really enjoyed the experience and thus didn't mind the loss as much. Last year's game was a lot worse. A Rose Bowl game is always a great gameday experience. The only thing I'd recommend is rooting for a team that doesn't have a history of not performing well there.
