Top set finds terrible turn card
Villain is running 53/13/1.7 over 200 hands. I haven't noticed much out of him other than being a bit of a station.

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
Make it about 180 on the flop and push a safe turn normally. You're never folding...
The only problem is the flush on the turn might scare him with whatever he has meaning you might only get action when you're beat but whatever.. raising more on the flop means I don't give a [censored] on the turn. |

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
Sometimes I like shoving the flop as a 3-bet due to the fact that it looks like a draw and you can get called light. His min-raise makes shoving a little awkward though. Whether you shove or not, your flop 3-bet is too small and should be larger: 160-200.

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
as played, i really think c/fold is best - hes not betting worse enough to think about continuing.

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
How about the $28 flop bet being too small to begin with? You're ahead here, bet $35, he minraises $70, raise to $170. He'll call.
That's the right play, regardless of the bad turn card. As for villain being fish.... he's got a huge stack, how did he get it? |

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
Like other said before - the main error in this hand is on the flop where your bets are too small - you lead out bigger, then he minraises you and then you have the options of shoving or raising that much that a tricky spot on the turn just wont happen.
Do you guys really c/fold the turn in those spots? He could have a straight draw/lower set/two pair too which all would loose against our hands. Just because the flush card (and bottom straight draw hits) doesnt mean we just give up here, do we? |

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
check/folding here is terrible IMO. I usually just shove here if villain is a station, but I would check call if he's spewy/likes to bet when checked to.

Re: Top set finds terrible turn card
i often see donks minraising ip with draws to get two more card cheaply... but whatever... i go broke here every time against this villain. prolly just push the turn...
... flop is bad as already said above... |

OP might find this useful
When in doubt, bet/valuebet/reraise/bluff bigger than you normally would. 9 times out of 10 it'll result in you taking down more pots or maximize your winning pots in later streets.
