Default Rude to bring iPod in van full of people?

The ladyfriend and I are going to see the new Harry Potter move tonight at an IMAX theater with a bunch of people. We're (I wanna say between 6-8 people) all traveling in one van. I do not particularly like Harry Potter, or fantasy movies/novels. The ladyfriend reminded me that almost everyone going is a huge HP nerd. I half-jokingly said I would bring my iPod with me.

Ladyfriend thinks that's incredibly rude, I think it isn't rude at all. What does OOT think?

FTR, I'm not actually bringing my iPod.

are you going to listen to it in the van or teh imax? if you listen to it in the van (which I woudl probably have to being surrounded by a bunch of geeks in a van), then yes, it is rude. If you are only planning on listening to it in teh imax, then...nah...Id hit the flask and listen to some tunes.

If I were one of the other people I'd be more shocked that you had iPod on and not listening to ladyfriend than not listening to me. It's not neccessarily rude IMO but just a little unfriendly.

It's a little rude, but who cares. If anybody asks, just tell them that your listening the the HP book and you can't wait for the movie!

Listening to ipod in van = antisocial
Listening to ipod in movie = retarded

either way I wouldn't be offended, but I'd think you were a loser

If you are just going to a movie, it is probably a douchebag move that may be interpreted as rude by some of those idiot HP fans. If on a road trip or something it is def. not rude to bring ipod along for the ride.

It's kind of dick in the van, if you're getting dragged to the movie... still kind of dick, but way more acceptable imo

Every now and then, for a brief moment, I'm glad I don't have a girlfriend.

qft, my girlfriend said she wanted to see that and I was like "that sounds like something to do with your other girl friends, unless by 'harry potter' you mean 'the bourne ultimatum' "
