I think you guys are overestimating what 8 beers a night is going to do to a young healthy guy. It's not that much. Especially when you get used to drinking that many beers.

Of course he would be in better shape if he didnt drink but saying he cant drink and ride a bike is crazy.

I think you guys that are saying you cant believe it are huge wusses.

I think he is a pro poker player too right? So that means he is going to get a full night sleep most of the time which makes a huge difference. If he is drinking till 4 then getting up at 7:30 I would change my mind. But if he can sleep 8 hours every night. I am sure he feels like a champ every morning.

There will be saturday nights where I will drink prolly 25 beers and wake up feeling like a champ and go run or lift. I know I dont do this every day but he's just taking bike rides.

I don't think you understand the coloric content of 10-12 beers and what it does to weight. It also sounds like you don't understand what a 20 mile bike ride is either.

Besides the extra calories alcohol also inhibits weight loss right?

yes, alcohol takes precedence in oxidation, so fat loss will stall...

While we're discussing alcohol and nutrition, another quick question: If I'm on a 2000 cal/day diet, and I'm going to have 5 beers, is it better for me to only eat ~1500 cal. and hit the 2000 mark through beer, or should I eat ~2000 cal. and then get to around ~2500 through beer?
