Help with updating GTR2

Hi. I need to update my P.C. game GTR2. I dowload the update file but after that I do not know what to do?. Do i have to put it in the game or what?. Help plz.
The file I have downloaded is a rar file if that helps?(i got no idea what that is)

rar files are compressed files. Like zip files, if you've seen those.

You need winrar to un-rar them. Get it at www.rarlab.com

Edit: And download the free trial version. No need to buy it for what you need.
