Is Kaz Matsui related to the pock-faced slugger on the Yankees, or is "Matsui" like the Japanese equivalent of "Smith"?
That may be harder for me to look up than you'd think. The other night I saw a guy named Ryan Speier pitching for the Rockies. Justin Speier, the journeyman hurler for the Angels, was in my high school class and I seem to remember him having a younger brother. Plus they look similar, and how common is "Speier" anyway? However, a web search turned up no information linking the two. |

Ironically, Justin Speier was a Colorado Rockie, as well, for the 2001-2003 seasons. Pitched pretty darn well, too.
They really don't look much alike, though, and one's from Walnut Creek, the other from Frankfort, KY, so it seems really unlikely. |
