Just read his wikipedia page... what a loon. According to that page, he wants to withdraw from the UN.

[/ QUOTE ]

He wants to remove our involvment with an idiotic colection of beurocrats who constantly seek to harm the US and that makes him a loon ???

I have yet to hear him be wrong or "looney" on any issue. A sure sign that he can't win.

It's true. I have looked through his voting record and he's voted the same way as I would have on every issue I looked at.

One that I had to think about was when I saw he voted "No" on giving the congressional medal of honor to Rosa Parks. Then I saw his remarks and he pointed out that it costs $5000 to mint each medal and the taxpayer shouldn't have to pay for that. Very good point.

Wow, two votes for Ron Paul from Democrats. I honestly thought there wouldn't be any. Do those voters want to share their thinking?

I'm slightly bothered that you only listed "Republican" or "Democrat" rather than using the lexicon of "conservative" or "liberal." Since I don't identify as a Democrat, I didn't vote in that poll, but I do identify as a liberal and would vote for Ron Paul over many possible candidates.

It takes some serious stones or ideological conviction to to say that on the floor.

I'm an ACist by my option wasn't really on this poll. It's not necessarily that I wouldn't vote because it upholds the status quo. I realize that we need to downsize government bigtime to even make small steps toward an AC society. It's just that my actual vote doesn't matter and I have no incentive to actually go to the polls on election day. Not enough people care about Libertarianism yet for this guy to have any kind of a chance.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, doh! I didn't think of that option. I mean, I understand his chance of winning is really very close to zero but I meant the poll to be more about support of his policies. So just imagine that he had at least a fair chance of winning.

Doh, another good point. Man, I suck at making polls.

If you'd like to vote just pick whichever one is closest to your political view.

When you say you're a liberal d'you mean in the traditional sense (ie libertarian) or current meaning (ie more kinda center-left diet-socialism)? I suspect it's the latter and I'm a bit surprised that you would vote for Ron Paul considering his stand on welfare, health-care, schools, etc.

Edit: For those interested, Ron's election campaign video is here

It's writing on a piece of paper a list of the things want, and then handing it over to the ruling class.

But instead of writing down what you want, you can only write down what you think should be enforced on everybody.

But instead of writing down what you want, you can only write down one of the ruling class' puppets who will represent your voice, thereby silencing you forever.

But instead of writing it down on a piece of paper, you get to input the number on a black box computer.

And you get to do this once every four years.

And you are not the only one announcing what you want, through selecting a puppet who will 'represent' you. No, millions and millions of other people are writing down their wants/their favourite puppet as well. And these 'representatives' get to represent these millions and millions of people. Whereby your own individual, personal, subjective needs and wants are trully and utterly lost forever. Dust in the wind.

Like a cat.

Tied to a stick.

In a cage.

On antibiotics.

I'm just as interested in the thoughts of the Republican that said he wouldn't vote for Ron Paul. Doesn't Paul have the most conservative voting record in Congress?

It depends how you define "Conservative". Ron Paul regularly slams the Republican party because they have departed so far from the small government path.

So much is wrong with the way government operates now that RP's politics could hardly be described as conservative (ie, maintaining what we have now).

If you check his voting record you'll notice he *never* just votes with the other members of his party (Very very often voting against the Republican initiate). He always evaluates each issue on it's merits.

That was me. I applaud him for considering each issue for himself, but his solutions are awful and, if implemented, would be disastrous.
