Default FTturbo 6.50 bubble 99

I don't have the hand history but blinds were about 250/500, 4 handed and these were the approximate chipstacks

UTG Chipleader had about 5450
Button had about 2850
I had about 3200
Shortstack had 1350

i post 250 SB,shortstack post 500 in the big blind.

UTG folds, button pushes all in. He's been real solid player even though the blinds are this high I know chances are it probably is a steal.

I have 99 and at the last moment tried to click call but my time expired. I saw it like if he had 2 overs, it would be 50/50 but how good is 99 against the buttons hand? Noramally i call real fast but this player never seemed to push with anything worst than 2 overs in the whole sng.

I did not like see myself coming in 3rd with this hand because shortstack would probably be out next hand.

Was my fold really that bad?

Not really, if you play sng for living, it is a good fold, your goal is to make money not finish 1st

The fold is right given your read on the person. If they are tight and pnly pushing overs making you at best a 50/50 then I think you did right thing. If button is loose then it would be a call but given your comments I think fold is fine.

Well i was thinking that there is of course a possibility he has an overpair but there is very little chance. chances of smaller pair is a little bit more. Most likely its a hand like A10 or something and I will have to flip a coin and I am currently 2nd place now with not that much room to spare.

Given the chip stacks and action, I would have Called if i had 1010+ and AQ+ but folded 99. Is my thinking okay? I do not use those Sng tools that most players do. I just look at the situation and think whats my best option.

comments?

acording to SNG power tools this is only a call if he is pushing every Kx, Ax,Qx,J8+, every pair, and a few other such hands. So defintely +EV fold. good job. Basically call range in this spot is extremely tight JJ+, and maybe AK depending how tight he really is.

thanks. I'm really surprised you people say this was a good fold or +EV fold. I feel like other people in other sites would say this is a an easy call. When i played a few years ago, i immediately called and of of course raced and won or lost a few.

But yea i definitely call with JJ here. AK would be an auto call for me as well. AQ would have been a tough one.

I call here, only because I play to win. Ill take a potential race to have a huge chip lead on the bubble. But im also a degenerate gambler.

99 will be a call before AK is.

Eh I could see folding 99 but damn don't fold AK. Still though it would take someone like myself to make me want to fold 99 here.
