NL cash games, you are not obligated to count your stack, that is a donkament thing. You must eyeball, drunky touches my chips, after all that I would slap him too.

No, I don't think so. You're entitled to know how deep everyone at the table is.

If asked for a count the dealer or player must give you an accurate count

Wrong. Thanks for playing.

In a NL cash game all that's required is for an unobstructed view of an opponents chips.

I actually looked through Robert's Rules and couldn't even find the part about high-denom chips being in clear view, let alone the part about whether anyone's obligated to count down stacks or not.

You are entitled to a clear view of the chips. You are also entitled to have the high denomination chips be clearly visible. You are also entitled to have the chips stacked in a manner that someone looking at them can tell how deep a player is. Traditionally if someone asks "how deep are you" they get an answer that is close to how many chips a player has. Poker is a game played by ladies and gentlemen. If you find yourself unable to conduct yourself as a lady or gentleman you should leave the casino.

From Chapter 2 of Bob Ciaffone's online rulebook:

19. Any player is entitled to a clear view of an opponent’s chips. Higher denomination chips should be easily visible.

Of course about 60% of what is in the "House Policies" section is either no longer applicable, changed, never/rarely enforced and shouldn't have been in a rule book in the first place but that's another rant

From the General Rules - House Policies section of the Commerce Rulebook (other LA rulebooks are similar or identical):

24. Any player is entitled to a clear view of an opponent’s chips when applicable."

Hope this helps.

As an aside here is a link to an old thread on a hidden chips decision I started a while back.

Sorry about the DOS style graphics but the X's and Y's represent the different denomination chips. Underneath is the rail and the position of the players.
