Default I quit my job

I am now unemployed.

My job required that I sign a 3-year non-compete contract by last Friday, which didn't seem like a good deal in my opinion. I had been interviewing with other places in the meantime, so I had planned for this in advance, if I did not want to sign it.

I did get an offer from a reputed bank on the Street, contingent on them getting final approval from one of the partners. My new job will be more fixed-income related trading. Either way, I probably won't be working for at least 2 weeks as I transition to a new job.

Moreover, expect me to finally me completely gone from POG. My new job probably will have hours like 7 AM to 10 PM. Yay for no social life!

Any questions?

I'm sitting at home right now. I have no idea what to do.

Yeah I might want to take some time off too. I have enough money to stay solvent. I'm thinking either a vaca or just some reading and learning.

Are those types of contracts standard in your industry?

my only advice is to not take a job that has hours like 7am-10pm. you need a life outside of work.

my impression is that this is not the case from the OP.

having work be your only life is def not worth the money, no matter how much it is (imo anyway)

no not really, which is why I left.

Oh, and I am still young (23). This work seems really interesting and lucrative. Probably very few weekends, and the workload gets less as the tenure increases. Plus, I plan on retiring by 35, so I need to make the bling now.
