I'll be curious to see what others do with this as well. My inclination would be to call the preflop raise, and check/call the flop and turn. I'd then fold to a river bet when the A hits.

Really? Do you think my hand is good here often enough to justify a call?

I can see where you are coming from. I used to make a lot of "sanity" calls and lose BB's.
What you are advocating is not good though. Calling when you really know better is succumbing to tilt and a leak in my book.

it all depends on what type of player it is. If its a tricky player and you think he is stealing your blinds then it can be a game of he who dares.

if I thought he was stealing I would probably call the river to see what he had, the king gives you highest card value, assuming he has missed the flop. I'm not sure he has an ace and his stats probably put him on a aggressive blind stealer.

if he had hit the flop earlier he probably would have bet.

If you lose this hand because he has an ace at least you will make him think twice about stealing again and you can see what type of hand he is going to try and steal your blind with. All useful information in future blind defences

I bet the river and fold to a raise. If he was stealing and hit the flop he likely would have raised the turn. I think it's more likely he's on a small/medium pair, a straight or flush draw, or high cards. He probably would have chucked most aces after you bet the turn, if not sooner.

Checking the river just says you don't have an A, and invites him to bet and take it away. If he figured you would only 3-bet with an A, he might fold alot of hands when you bet it on the river. You also can't keep him from betting almost any possible holding unless he believes you would check raise the river often with a variety of hands.

It costs one more bet if we're wrong, but it's the only way to win the hand, since we can't see a showdown if we check/fold. Villian only has to fold more than 20% (less than that, actually) to make a river bet profitable, since we can't lose any more bets and we'll fold if he raises.
