The fact that you're cynically arguing against notetaking may indicate a deeper problem re: paying attention, making reads, etc. This is the part where people tell you about a leak. You usually tell them they're wrong, so I'm through arguing.

I play much better when I have enough time to take notes, develop reads, watch hands i'm not involved in, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is why I don't megatable anymore

I'm not attacking you, and what I'm hinting at is not from this thread in isolation. I've watched you argue with lots of people and I'm just saying, maybe what you guys are arguing about IS holes in your game. I'm actually surprised you don't take notes; how do you know how everybody plays?

Well, that's kinda silly. Replying and discussing hands helps you at least as much as it helps whoever posted it.

I tend to over-value notetaking, but I think there is some value in them, particularly with regards to someone's general approach. I think making very specific, detailed notes can be a bit of a hinderance, both because of the amount of time and focus it takes to do so, but also because (IME) it can lead to being too specific in hand reading.

To address the OP: I find 4-6 tables is pretty manageable for me. Once I get a bigger monitor, I'll experiment with 6-8, but I'm not really sure how well that'll go. Limits range from 10/20-30/60.

donger, i think notes are fairly worthless.

[/ QUOTE ]

strongly disagree

[/ QUOTE ]

I find notes to be much more useful than stats.

[/ QUOTE ]

give me an example of notes saving you or making you money.

[/ QUOTE ]

Jesus are you serious? That's like saying give me an example of where raising preflop earned you money.

i don't use stats, just notes, and i do pretty well. Those periods of time where I tried relying heavily on PAHUD or stats did not go well for me.

And examples of where notes help me:

1) Oppenent raises pf, and i 3 bet. He peels dry flop and I have KJ on a low flop, do i bet turn? my notes say: "Doesn't read hands, peels any flop"

2) i raise sb, he 3 bets bb, whats his range? notes say "frequently 3 bets bb vs. sb"

3) I raise pf and he calls in bb. He check calls flop and donks turn, what do i do? My notes say: "passive, but donks = weakness/bluffs"

4) I call a pf raise and flop a weak pair. My notes say that this guy frequently triple barrel bluffs, so instead of checkraising the flop i decided to check call all the way.

Vic doesn't use notes, you don't use stats. I think you're both crazy
