cards like the ones on aruba classic
I watched the UB Aruba Classic last night and was wondering what kind of cards they were using. It's a bit hard to say exactly, but basically they had the rank and suit on the top edge so you don't have to look at the whole card. here's a picture.
what is this design called? and where can you get them (plastic)? thanks. |

Re: cards like the ones on aruba classic
Those are called left handed cards or simply 4 pip cards. They tend to be popular in Europe. Carta Mundi, Copag, Del Negro, Fournier and Mondiano all offer versions of this type of card.

It does. I think they're sometime called left-hand cards because lefties can peel up the "opposite" corners, as most people do with normal pip designations.

Maybe I miss understood you. What's the difference between your 2 drawings? [/ QUOTE ] Small pips in the corners vs. larger pips. Both are 4-pip style card decks and both can be found, I believe. Also, the size of the inner pips reminds me of Magnum-type cards, that Kardwell used to make when they still owned the KEM line. Magnums only had 2 pips (or, the decks that I own only have 2). |

Maybe you are talking about Magnum Index cards. Copag makes those. Anyway, here's a link with lots of info on cards:

Some of us had asked Copag about making Magnum-type cards a while back, I didn't know they had finaly done so. I'm not sure I like their version, however- the corner pips are too big. I noticed something else- are A-Plus cards going OoB? They always were ugly. |

Re: cards like the ones on aruba classic
here is the best real picture I could find
they are very small and notice it reads horizontally, not vertically like A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] compared to A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
