Default cheap Vegas hotels

Looking for a cheap hotel w free wireless, preferably not far from the Strip, for a 1 or 2 week stay. Ellis Island Super 8 seems pretty reasonable to me... anyone got any other recommmendations?

Sahara is a great value, close enough to the monorail station to tap into their wireless.

I like Palace Station. Cheap rates and they've got a free shuttle to the strip every hour from 6 am to 11 pm. Request the OJ suite.

Check the Motel 6 right across from the MGM Grand. Great rates and great location, but I'm not sure about the wireless access.

There is a comfort Inn located across the street from the Hard Rock Casino that I stayed in this past weekend.

As long as you don't get room 101, 102, 301, 302 (which faces the street and are very noisy), and you don't mind the planes overhead (bring earplugs, you'll be fine), the rooms are nice, have small kitchens in them, and only cost about 90 bucks a night on the weekend.

I stopped reading here, lol. No way would I ever stay in a joint where I need earplugs just to sleep cuz of plane noise. There are much better all over the place in town and without the noise.

Don't stay at the Motel 6 or Best Value Inn across from the MGM. Both offer cheap rooms and free wireless, however neither wireless connection worked reliably when I was there around the WSOP. The Best value said their internet hd not worked right for months, and the motel 6 would disconnect often. The last day it was so bad I had to go work from an internet cafe which was really uncomfortable for 8 hours. If you can find a cheap place to stay it might be worth paying the $10/night extra for a more reliable internet connection. You should call the hotel before you book and make sure the connection works reliably.

FWIW, I've not been in a Casino room yet (and I've stayed in a number of them around the country) where I did NOT need ear plugs.

It always amazed me that they'd build a hotel for a Casino, KNOWING full well, that there are those who like to stay up all hours of the night drinking and gambling (aka noisy things), but build their rooms with paper thin walls.

As such, I always carry a set of earplugs, no matter where I stay, just in case.
