Motel 6 is fine, as is the Super 8. Wireless @ the super 8 really only worked well for me on the 2nd floor, not the 3rd / top floor.

Motel 6 wireless works just fine, and its 2.99/day, must buy a card at the front desk.

I stayed @ both during the WSOP and just checkout out of the motel 6. Never had a problem.

Check out the Tuscany Suites a few blocks east of MGM Grand. For a 1-2 week stay, it probably beats Motel 6 and the like.

imperial Palace wasn't bad.

Poker comps aren't bad either.

I've been looking into the Imperial Palace for a couple nights stay mid week in November, but I was thinking of going across the street and playing at Caesar's. Are comps and play good enough to just stick around in Imp Palace's room?

IP is good... you can't beat the location. I personally am not allowed to stay there, but I would recommend it to others. Anyone stayed @ Tuscany?

I stayed at the Tuscany Suites 2 years ago for a buddy's bachelor party. 7 guys in 1 room (suite) and it wasn't that bad. Things were clean, it was easy to get in and out of and there is a small casino to get your fix in a building next door. This type of place is not usually my cup of tea as I like the big name hotels on the Strip, but this was definitely doable and I was pleasantly surprised. Lawry's is right across the street (60-second walk) and even a little locals strip joint next door (not great, but no cover either).

Best kept secret: for a 1 or 2 week stay yopur better off renting a car and staying at a house away from the strip. Craig's List has tons of short term rental opportunities. if your staying 2 months then most of the major apartment complexes will give you a 60 day lease, you could spend in the range of $900/month and save a fortune!

Here's the best kept secret in Vegas (IMHO).

Emerald Suites. It is a true suite hotel, not like the Rio. These suites have kitchens. They're on the west side and south side, near the strip. The Cameron site is right across from The Orleans; and the entrance to that excellent poker room comes out on to Cameron. Check out their website.
