Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant, MI
Me and some buddies were planning on making a trip up to one of the casinos in MI to play some poker for a weekend. One of my buddies has family in Mt. Pleasant that we could stay with so that was the first thing that came to mind. What's the poker room like there? What games/limits do the offer? Their website makes it seem like they only have limit hold 'em cash games. Anyway, any info and/or reviews of their poker room or recommendations for other poker rooms in MI are welcome.

They have a couple NL 200 tables (max= 100), call ahead or the list could be long. Not too bad, although the floor people are kind of bitchy.

Re: Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant, MI
That's an oft made complaint about Michigan and NW Indiana poker rooms. We are in the midst of the the "new era" of casino gaming. It bears no resemblance to gaming of the 50's, 60's, or 70's. Basically, it's just cut-throat "give us your money and get out"......

Re: Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant, MI
I am also going to be visiting Soaring Eagle for the first time soon. I think I've read that the rake is 10% up to $5. Is this true for both 3/6 and 6/12?
Also, how tough are the players generally? |

Re: Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant, MI
You are correct on the rake. IMO, a lot of the really bad limit players have switched to the 1-2 NL game. My last few times there the 6-12 and 10-20 games were not nearly as juicy as they used to be.
