But we should continue the discussion here as it relates to the interpretation & implementation of the new law. We should keep talking about how we can push the envelope.

I anticipate the Seminoles to spread no-cap buy-in NL games on July 1, though.

No bet. That's why I didn't say I expect no-cap NL.

City buses? Forget it. Public transportation SUCKS in FL.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't imagine trying to wait for a bus or whatever in Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa/St. Pete areas.
NOT a good idea.
Do they have pick-up/drop-off anywhere near some of these casinos? Somehow I doubt it.

I haven't paid much attention to public-transportation around Florida but my guess is it's ineffective and sketchy enough to make it pretty unwise to count on it.

If you don't have a car I might suggest you are probably going to need one.

[/ QUOTE ]

posts like this show WHY 2+2 forums does NOT REPRESENT THE AVERAGE POKER PLAYER. 2+2 is composed mostly of winning professionals and people who are pretty well off financially. not a bunch of people working at minimum wage $6 an hr jobs and without cars, and on public assistance. i would guaranttee u at least 100-200 people ride the bus to the cardrooms every day even if not all of them are on a bus route. id also be willing to make a $100 bet with anyone on this forum i could even find a casino dealer who does. i certainly did when i was at the seminole casino in ft lauderdale in 2003. i dont know how to drive, never owned a car in my life and im 38. yet i rode the bus every day to casinos in CA vegas, reno AC NJ davenport IA, and even phoenix, where its like a 8 block walk from the end of the busline to casino arizona, unless thats been improved.

FYP. Literally.

And now to address the subject matter. Florida has massive urban sprawl. As a result, cities cannot afford effective mass transit like the T, the NYC MTA subway, the DC Metro, or BART. A lot of the reason high-speed rail was canceled in this state is that the mass transit in the cities to be served was insufficient.

There are bus stops at the Hard Rock in Tampa, but many of the dog tracks and such are in very rural areas. I don't know about mass transit in Broward and Dade. If the buses work for you, good on ya! But in Tampa, it's a jopke.

[/ QUOTE ]

Exactly!!

I live very close to Derby Lane and you would be hard pressed to find more than five people in the entire joint who took a bus to arrive there.

What we should be doing, in addition to pressuring our cardrooms to be as aggressive as possible with the new law, is paying attention to the Division of Pari-Mutuel Waging's Notices of Proposed Rulemaking Division's Website. The regulatory level is where the fight will be ... I'm monitoring the Division's actions on the new law and will post when there's something to add.

The better players stay away from the dog tracks because of the ridiculous rake. They play once in a blue moon. (I only go on date night when we get a sitter.)

These fish are going to last 2-4 weeks, tops, until they start clamoring for 1-2 limit again.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know a lot of these "underground" people. The people who play in "charity" events at country clubs and bars. They don't scare me. Some of them might be decent, but I've played with enough regulars in and out of the card rooms to know that I'm ahead of them skillwise in the NL cash game. As a winning player online and live, I'm not worried. YMMV.

[/ QUOTE ]

The fact that a LOT of the players are marginal or distracted (by their bets on the dogs) just makes it that much better for me.

I stay away from the no-fold'em-hold'em limit games, and stick with the STTs and MTTs

yes the rake is a bit high (33+12), but I've still made a decent buck playing in these "soft" tourneys

as for the "Charity" things at country clubs, they are a lot of fun.... I go to one in Ft. Lauderdale where they have a $60 buy-in 3 weeks a month ($110 1 week) -always 5 to 7 tables- and at the same time there is a $100 NL 1/2 cash game (usually 1 or 2 tables) the players are better than the average Dog track player, but the games are still beatable (and enjoyable)

Notice the part I bolded, it looks like they are going to read the bill as a MAX buy-in.
Also look at the date. If the cardrooms are made to wait till the rules come down we may not see any changes till August.
