New Laptop Help

Im currently in the market for a new laptop --> my previous one has died. Anyway, i am a complete computer newbbie/fish - i have no idea about which one to purchase. All i know is that i want a laptop with a 17" screen. Im looking to spend between $1000 and $1500.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what laptop I should get? I basically just use my laptop to 4-table poker, as well as for university.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as i really have no idea

I liked my Dell refurbished. If you're going to buy the extended warranty (and you should buy the extended warranty) then the Dell refurbs are a good deal.
