I just sat down and have never seen villain before. So, no read. I am mostly interested in comments on river play, but feel free to comment all streets. Villain is SB w/ $170, I cover.

A little hard to assess the situation with no reads so I'll make a ton of assumptions here.

On the flop, you're only realistically behind 55 as JJ would have raised and from the combos available JJ and 66 are very unlikely.

Even then 55 is unlikely given the action, villain should conceivably be worried about the 2 flush on board and would 3 bet bigger with 55.

While you're ahead of 65 and J5, the flop action leads me to believe he himself is on some combo draw 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], and maybe a A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] type hand.

Therefore I like calling the 3 bet and raising pot on the turn as you did.

River - Your check is fine, considering how strong you played the hand, he could be check raising with 98. And hes folding all the other missed draws anyway because his combo draw range didn't enable him to "luckily" back into top pair here - so you can't get value from that. The only value you're missing is from 65 and J5. So on balance I check.
