I am curious to know how good it is
Tony Guerrera's killer poker by the numbers is a good book |

Re: Short Handed NL - Killer Poker
Official Title is Killer Poker Short-Handed. A sample copy from the publisher arrived today and I placed a stocking order. From reading the intro it does appear to be NL based

Re: Short Handed NL - Killer Poker
I thought there was only one chapter related to NL...at least that's what a previous thread said. Killer poker online was a pretty bad, bad book so I don't expect much from this at all.

Re: Short Handed NL - Killer Poker
Does Tony use MCU notation in all the hand examples, like he did in Killer Poker by the Numbers? If so, then I predict this book will sell less than a dozen copies.
MCU notation confused the hell out of me while reading Killer Poker by the Numbers. Part of me wants to go back and re-read it, but I know I never will and MCU notation is the reason why. |

[/ QUOTE ] I just got this book yesterday, courtesty of my significant other, and your information seems to be incorrect. Except for one chapter on short handed limit hold'em, the rest of the book is devoted to various scenarios for short handed no limit hold'em. |

Re: Short Handed NL - Killer Poker
Fairly light, mainly words with few examples. Focusing more on the psychological aspects.
It takes the view that every opponent has a code that you need to break. With fair bit on opponent modelling and how to adjust to various profiles. Worth a read although better players might not get much out of it. |

[/ QUOTE ] I have not read it though I have read other books by Vorhaus. He writes well but I have gotten tired of al his stylistic flourishes and by now I know my own mind and the mind of my opponents. All that leaves is the theoretical value of his strategic insights, these are few though importantly I think he has added not in a comprehensive manner a la Sklansky and Malmuth to the body of poker theory but in a piecemeal fashion. If anything the 'one good idea' theory should allow most to purchase this but No Limit Hold'em is not my (cash) game so I am leaving it be. |
