Default Transfer scammers

ArnieF is a n00b with 10 posts, most of which are asking for transfers. He is accused in the zoo transfer thread of scamming on 10-10-07.

Within the last few days, a well-known and respected ssnl poster tufat23 was scammed by this same guy for $1k. Tufat corresponded with the guy under his ArnieF name. Tufat's acct was closed on Cake for fraudulent activity as ArnieF's acct had scammed someone else on Cake so tufat got linked to it. Evidently Arnie gets $$$ onto a site via a bad credit card somehow and then transfers it to unsuspecting folks.

Now he has reappeared as Calidonk and has made 3 posts on 2p2, all of which are asking for transfers.

It seems to me that this poster (and probably a few others like him) is using 2p2 solely as a vehicle to scam people via funds transfers.

What can be done about it? I know it's always "buyer beware" but it doesn't seem right that we allow this guy to post here in order to scam people.

I agree (but I am biased partially because I have been scammed and tufat is my friend) that we should perhaps be banning these posters.

Mat, not long ago, gave his opinion on this matter in a similar situation not long ago. Link.

i don't remember that thread but i will comment that i am surprised that this ban, while appearing to be correct, is not, in fact, a "very routine ban"

Wanting to trade onto non US sites has its own shadiness. It's not like people able to play on Party don't have access to an ewallet. I love these people with a few posts only wanting to trade with a respectable poster with a good history.

Ya, I saw that thread. Mat says:

If someone is disruptive, that's an okay reason to ban. But the reason is not because they are a suspected scammer in that case.

I guess my point with this thread is to ask: If a poster's only contribution to the forum is asking for transfers, he gets caught scamming...I think we can permaban and ip ban him if he comes back.

AJ,

In the forums that we mod, I would consider a poster who posts nothing except money transfer posts to be disruptive.
