Thread has been done before though. It's all about preference obviously, but not only that, different rappers are good in different ways. Some flow better (biggie, eminem, rakim etc.), some have better rhymes (common, pac, goodie mob etc.) some have better beats (kanye, dre etc.), some make you think about certain stuff (depends on the person obv.), some make you wanna bust the stupid ass fish at the table (dmx, mop, onyx) and some just make you wanna shake ya ass (any southern stuff). Any rappers I mentioned above is just what popped first in to my head, I'm sure there are better in each category.

Pac is the best because instead of writing 20 great songs, he wrote 1000 generic repetitive songs

....hennessey
...ride on our enemies

only made it into 100 of them though

I kind of like immortal technique, besides him there aren't that many rappers nowadays that I like though.

I still like some of the older ones like tupac, biggie, jay-z etc..

Black Thought from the Roots. I don't think he gets mentioned enough in these debates.

has anyone heard the new Lupe Fiasco? I never thought I'd say this about another rap cd, but it's pure genious. It's among the most innovative cd's I've heard, and it's the best lyrically in a LONG time. I'd go as far as to say it's better lyrically then Be (Common) or Beautiful Struggle (Kweli). I'm actually excited about this and curious to hear when he drops his 2nd album. I thought true hip hop was on it's way out, but Kanye and Lupe are certainly showing some promise

why would you list some of the worst works by Common/Kweli..
lol

Aceyalone

Acey's not that great he just gets great production which makes him sound good for stuff like his solo albums and his work in Haiku D'Etat.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think "A Book of Human Language" and "All Balls Don't Bounce" are great albums in large part due to Acey's lyricism/rapping. Admittedly, I haven't heard all that much else by him, but based on these two outputs, I think he's one of the best (I can't think of two ablusm by any other rapper I think are better).
