I just called my doctor and said "I'm having some anxiety about flying, can I have some Xanax please?" and that was it.

When you get to the airport, speak to the ticket agent if there is a way to upgrade to first/business class. If there is room, sometimes they'll charge you, sometimes not. I've done this many times (+25), and had to pay less than 5 times. Minneapolis to Las Vegas cost me an additional $100 ($50/each) for my wife and me to move to first class. Minneapolis to Honolulu cost $350 for both ($175/each).

Otherwise, try some Percocet and beer fwiw...

Would it be this easy if you don't actually have a specific doctor? I have to fly in about a month, and I typically just drink a lot before to get over my fear of flying, but this isn't really an option this time.

The weird lap pillow thing I posted a picture of is in the Skymall catalog. You can find it on the Skymall website, as well.
