Default I\'m supposed to do this every once in awhile right?

Villain is jiggyji, and I don't have any read on him other than TAG stats and he likes to three bet me a lot.

Full Tilt Poker, $3/$6 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

Hero (CO): $582
BTN: $211.90
SB: $981.75
BB: $972.25
UTG: $673.10
MP: $600

Pre-Flop: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (CO)
2 folds, Hero raises to $21, 2 folds, BB raises to $72, Hero calls $51

I used to call pre-flop, like, all the time. Since I've been on this losing streak, I've been folding, but I was getting 3bet so much today I guess I was tilting and made some loose calls.

Flop: ($147) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 Players)
BB bets $120, Hero raises to $510 and is All-In

This particular move is way, way outside my comfort zone. In fact, I'm not sure if I've ever done this before - JhTh or 8h7h, probably, but not the move with the 5-outter. But I think you aggro guys do this sometimes, right?

PS: I wouldn't have even considered it if there were two spades out -- in my experience, TT calls my shove on a Q-high board if there's a flush draw out.

for me the kicker is how you interpret his near-pot cbet. If you think its weak (trying to push you off a mid pair) then I like it. If you think its strong, I don't. But I tend towards the former on a board like this, so, sure, make it rain on him.

preflop calls like this lead to super high variance though, so if you're not feeling great about your game, maybe don't make them. also, if you're getting 3bet a lot, maybe ease off on raising hands like this in the first place. its ok to nit it up now and again (or find more passive tables).

He's getting exactly 2 for 1. Is he folding more than 67% of his 3-betting range? If it's wide I think he might, but I'm not thrilled about this. Like you say, it's better to do this with something with 9 definite outs than 5 probably ones since your equity improves pretty significantly the times you get called.

This isn't entirely accurate either but I don't feel like busting out pokerstove now.

Good question. I don't know what his three-betting range is though... Probably TT+,AQ are reasonable assumptions, but I have no idea if this guy also has a lot of Axs, suited broadways, suited connectors, ATo/AJo/KQo in his range.

Basically I think the only way to make calling 3bets with 100bb stacks with small suited on gappers is gonna be profitable is to make moves like this, and the only way the whole hand is profitable is if his range is really wide here. If hes only 3betting semi light, or fairly standard than it is a fold preflop imo
