As for its relation to poker, I think it is clear to many scientists and mathematicians that poker is just a glorified lottery, much like black jack or craps.

Your unwavering support for Jesus, fascism, and non connective logic should be applauded by all. you sir are a true hero.

[ QUOTE ]
These cops are heroes and true defenders of our nation.

- 72% of problem gamblers reported an episode of depression.
- 52% report alcohol abuse.
- 50% of problem gamblers abuse their children.
- In areas that allow casino gambling judges are reporting that 1/3 of the divorce cases they see involve gambling as a reason the marriage is dissolving. In these same areas spousal abuse has risen over 300%.
- After Mississippi legalized casino gambling pawn shops became the fastest growing business in the state. People are pawning their possessions in order to gamble.
- Problem gamblers are 150 times more likely to attempt suicide.
- Secular treatment of problem gamblers has only an 8% success rate. This is one of the lowest rates of any addiction. The reason the success rate for treating a gambling problem is so difficult is because it is not a disease - it is a moral choice

Consider these facts:
1. Each day, 88 million dollars are spent on lotteries alone, more money than is spent on food.
2. Ten million Americans have a gambling addiction.
3. When legalized gambling enters a new area, there is a 100%-500% rise of compulsive gamblers. At least 2/3 of compulsive gamblers turn to crime to finance their addiction.
4. Gambling causes a wide range of social problems such as increases in divorces, child protection cases, crime rates, domestic violence and child abuse. For every $1.00 the state receives from gambling revenue, it costs that state at least $3.00 in increased services such as criminal-justice, and welfare.

[/ QUOTE ]

Im sure the stats on alcohol abuse are much worse and account for much more "horror" and yet your not suggesting the banning of liquor?

"50% of problem gamblers abuse their children."

This is pretty much very impossible to quantify and suggests all of the stats this troll posted are made up. Who would be considered a problem gambler, and how would you gain access to whether they hit their kids or not? It wouldn't shock me if degenerate gamblers were more likely to hit their kids though. OK, enough about the troll.

Interestingly my posting reminds me of the made up stat that the day after the superbowl was when the most cases of domestic abuse occurred which I think is a myth, I dunno I'll try and google it.

You are an idiot who obviousely lost at poker so since you suck you feel like it is all luck, yet thousands of people earn a living playing the game you obviously do not understand. And yes the same people win year after year because the luck factor only goes so far, and you sir obviousely quit when the luck ran out and your true skill was realized.

So now you troll the website you probably ignored the advice on when you were playing enciting people with ridiculous statements like you made that mathemeticians and scientists agree that poker=blackjack=roulette=lottery. mOst of the pros earning a living are mathematical thinkers and realize a poker tournament is one long math problem. They did not teach that in remedial math your third freshman year in high school. How did it feel to be the only eighth grader old enough to drive to school?

Over hundreds of thousands of hands the luck factor all but disappears and all that is left is skill. You should not have quit before you learned the game.

You come off kind of like my mother in law. Dumb as hell.

[/ QUOTE ]

First of all, it is *obviously* (not obviousely).

Second, of course people make money playing poker, just like people make money playing blackjack or roulette. Just because some people like Jerry Yang and Jamie Gold have been blessed with card abilities beyond those that seem capable by a human doesn't mean we can all aspire to be like them.
For example, can you play basketball like Michael Jordan? I would bet not. Poker is a losing proposition where only a very select few make money out of it.

Think of it another way. You wouldn't kill people to make money, correct? Hitler killed thousands and thousands of Jewish people during the Holocaust, and became one of the richest and most powerful people in the world. Does this mean that genocide is a good way to make money? I think we can both agree that it is not.

I learned right from wrong and you should to. I have given you the facts, and that is all I can do.

God Bless.
