May spends every broadcast on his knees in front of USC.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that's clearly a dumb move since the Trojans are so terrible every year.

[/ QUOTE ]

To me, May (along with Corso and Herby) are the main cogs in the ESPN hype machine which hypes up teams that it can show a lot (mainly the Saturday night ABC game these days) which results in ridiculous rankings and thus a ridiclous BCS Poll. Every year, a new team is hyped as the best team ever. Then, when they run polls to determine the best team ever, the ESPN analysts (mainly Herbie, in this case) get visibly upset on the air when the fans choose a team that doesn't fit the ESPN agenda (despite the fact that the fans did indeed pick the best team ever).

[/ QUOTE ]

So you're saying that USC, who has had one of the most incredible five year runs in college football history, is overhyped?

No. A team that has like two losses this decade is anything but overhyped. Notre Dame is overhyped.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ask any Texas fan Pre Rose Bowl if USC was overhyped. Obv N. Dame is overhyped. No rational person would debate that.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm from Texas. I watched the game (rooting for USC) with 200 crazy, drunken UT fans. They all agreed that USC had an awesome, awesome team.

Do you really think USC is overhyped this year? I follow USC football very closely, and it's been pretty obvious since late 2005 that this year's team was going to be ridiculous.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, they were overhyped. ESPN was calling them the greatest team ever the entire season, moreso in the days leading up to the Rose Bowl. Turns out, they weren't even the best team that year.

The game was decided on one play...how can you honestly make that argument? Are you the type that thinks the best team wins every single time?

LenDale gets stuffed because he's a fat whale...Sartz (?) drops back in coverage on 4th down when everyone alive knows Vince is going to run...USC burns a timeout on the 2-point conversion, then can't stop the clock when they actually get to midfield (?) with six seconds left...

If any of these things don't happen, you're potentially looking at a USC win. And then USC is the better team? Come on. All I learned from the game is that Texas (see: Vince) was better than I thought they were. But USC wasn't really overhyped since their team was [censored] awesome...Texas just happened to be pretty awesome, too.

Example of May's lack of knowledge this year:

While talking about Nebraska this year:

Said they only have 10 returning starters (wrong, they have at minimum 12, more if you count guys who started some of the time last year)

Said they have won only one game against against a top 25 team under Callahan (wrong, they have won 3)

I should add: I am in no way backing Mark May. He's marginal at best.

Who cares if they won or not? They obviously weren't the best team ever nor close to being the best team ever. Do you know what the best team ever does when it's 1 vs. 2 for the championship? They win 62-24.

I never said they were the best ever. If ESPN did, they overhyped them, but it's not like ESPN is the only media outlet in the world.

BTW, this all started because you ripped on USC being overhyped. You do realize that they beat an OU team (one that was overhyped by ESPN, and one that was the favorite in that game) 55-19 in one of the most horrific ass spankings in national championship history, right?

(And that team was not that much better than OU.)

I'm not ripping any team, USC included. I'm ripping ESPN. Thanks for continuing to make my point.

I thought you were saying USC didn't deserve to have their balls washed by May. If any team deserves it, it's SC.

But yes, ESPN is pretty much the worst thing ever.
