5C Draw Limit
was playing in a 5 card draw tournament. 360 players. 60 left. top 45 get paid. this is my first time ever playing 5CD. i play a lot of NL Holdem and Horse Limit, but never this. so i have no idea what i was doing but was working a little bit . two hands that thought were good hands but had no idea what to do with them:
1). K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] , no idea what to draw to what to hold, raise or call? 2). 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] bet? call? good hand? stand pat? ~vlad p.s. i know these might be some elementary question, but its my first time playing this game, thought this might a good place to ask. |

Re: 5C Draw Limit
As always, it depends. Though generally speaking if you're going to play a hand its best to open-raise with it.
1.) Worth an open raise from any position. Draw 3. 2.) Unless playing against a total rock, I open-raise/3-bet this. Draw 1. Standing pat would be good if you're trying to avoid getting called. You want a worse 2-pair to call you here though. |

Re: 5C Draw Limit
Is this limit or PL? I'm assuming this is still early in
the tournament and everyone is fairly deep-stacked and it's 6-handed. 1) Worth open raising with, but you probably should fold it if you have to call two bets cold except possibly from the button versus a cutoff raise. In PL, you shouldn't call a raise to 2x to 3x the BB cold except against a loose opener when you are the button. In the small blind, this is at best a marginal call against a cutoff raise but normal call against a button raise. From the big blind, this is a trouble hand against an utg open raise (or even a raise from the hijack against a "rock"), but usually a call versus a late position raise, unless this player never raises with JJ in which case you are usually better off folding (against some aggressive buttons, you might even reraise in limit). You draw three to KK if you play, unless facing a pat hand. If an opponent is pat, you draw to your gutshot, unless you are pretty sure making a broadway straight won't be big enough (but you better be sure!). 2) Worth open raising with and reraising with in limit; in PL, this can be a borderline and sometimes submarginal reraising hand (depends on the opener, the size of the raise and the position of the opener; obviously, if the button open raises, you would want to reraise). You never stand pat with this hand; if you ever make aces full and catch somebody with a full hand, you win four bets in limit and might take somebody's stack in PL. |

Re: 5C Draw Limit
Hand 1. You have a pair of kings: Raise and take 3.
Hand 2. Aces up, Raise and take 1. |
