Default best low limit walking distance from Bellagio ?

Hi all,

making my way down to vegas where I plan on playing most of the time at Bellagio since they spread the mid limit I like. I'm in the rather unique sitation where I'm bringing 11 friends, and most of them are probably best suited for 1/2 limit and no limit. I'm trying to recall the closest places for those limits that are half decent.

if my memory serves me correctly, Caesars has a good amount of 1/2NL. Is that pretty much the best place for that ? I also recall Excalibur being a low limit haven. but that's a bit of a walk in this heat.

Anywhere else good for low stuff ? Bally's ? Paris ? IP ?

Thanks a bunch

ok I just saw the IP thread. Since we're staying there that looks like it'll be perfect. Soft games and low limit = ideal.

Bally's and Caesars have 3/6 limit and 1/2 NL. They would be a good choice. Paris often can't get cash games going outside of prime times, and when they do it seems it's always NL and never limit. Flamingo and IP do 2/4 limit and 1/2NL so if you're looking for the smallest limit game around, try those. Haven't been to PlanetH in months but odds are good they have 2/4 or 3/6 and NL1/2.

You ain't gonna find 1/2 limit on the strip.

Well heck, if you're starting outta IP, that's a whole different radius to cover. IP will be fine if they get the games going at the times you want 'em (evenings will be no problem). Flamingo is a nearby alternate. Harrah's and Mirage do 3/6 and NL1/2. And Caesars remains a good choice within the walking distance radius.

Default ballys

Bally's for 1-2 no limit and 3-6. The location of Bally's poker room (right next to the bar, and the craps/blackjack pit) makes it ideal for attracting tourist walk-ins. Many of Bally's staff really kick butt when it comes to making the tourists comfortable.

Caesars aint bad but their poker room's location sucks eggs (way in the back behind the sports book down a hallway). The room itself is great once you are there, comfy and quiet.

Planet hollywood's new poker room is very nice, and everyone who comes in from the strip has to walk right past it. They have some good staff too.

All the above rooms have parking far from the room, which has the excellent effect of discouraging locals from playing there.

Bally's is THE noisiest poker room in Vegas. Seriously, that's the only major drawback to it. It sits out in the open with ceilings that seem to amplify and reflect the sounds, with craps tables and blackjack tables right behind with folks SCREAMING at the top of their lungs. I think the guys who work there should have OSHA bring in a sound meter and see if their hearing isn't being impacted by long term exposure. It's loud enough you normally cannot hear someone carrying on a normal conversation two seats away, and even shouting often isn't enough to be heard from seat 2 to seat 8. I can only take a few hours of it during prime time and come out with my ears feeling 'bout like they did leaving the last Motley Crue concert I did 20 years ago.

Harrah's is the opposite, in its own floor-to-ceiling glass walled room. Kinda like Caesars, but not isolated down a long corridor like Caesars. If it's loud in the poker room, it's because of the poker players.

There are all kinds of reasons to pick one poker room over another. Limits available, parking, noise, friendliness, nitty rules, comps (IP gives ya $2/hr, most everybody else is $1/hr), drink service (Caesars doesn't serve call drinks--you get "bourbon and coke" not "jack and coke"), appearance of the cocktailers... But quality of the play at 3/6 and NL1/2 isn't really a reason to select a room--everybody sucks everywhere.

I stayed at Planet Hollywood last weekend. They had at least one 1/2nl going every day (started much later on Sunday). They also had a small limit game going (2/4 or 3/6???).

I played 1/2nl Friday and Sunday. A lot of the players bought in short ($100 or less) max buyin was $200. The play was soft, but there were 2-3 regulars (locals) at the table. The room was nice and in a great location. The TV's have not been installed yet, but are coming soom as per the dealers.

My only complaint was that they let the dealers play in the games ~ I'm not sure why this bothered me, but it did. Two separate players during one session (Sunday) got up, cashed in their chips and changed into their dealing uniform to deal the tournament and/or cash games. Is this normal for Vegas?

* Minor Brag * - I busted one of the dealers with AA against his AK.

The following are within a 15 minute walk of Bellagio and have ample 1/2 NL. I'll also state anything notable about the room and if they have limit games of note.

Cesars - nice place, very very close
Ballys - easy games and very close
Planet Hollywood - close. No current other info.
Flamingo - small room. Prolly both NL and limit HE...maybe $2-4 or $4-8
IP - Easy games. Easy comps of $2 an hour. Good drink service
Harrahs - No current info
Mirage - I dunno how low the NL goes. Limit HE they have lots of $3-6.
Venetian - Really nice room with good drink service, and probably better quality drinks than elsewhere. I also like this place because if you guys get 5-6 hours in, it cuts your bill at a place like Noodles Asia(yummy) by 30-50%. Also the cw's are hotter than else where. Finally, Venetian is next to Casino Royale. CR is a dump, but it has cheaper craps and BJ than anywhere else in the area. So if your friends want to play these games, they will definitely get better milleage here.
