Default Re: BJ Dealer mucks her own 21; what\'s the penalty?

Once, at the end of a double shift, I had an ace showing, asked for insurance bets, checked (No BJ), paid the insurance bets, continued with the hand, drew to 21, paid the table, swept the cards, and went on with the next hand.

Talk about auto-pilot. Heck, in the fog after the next hand I asked the table, "Did I just do that?" A chuckle or two and a shocked look later, I laughed and the table went on a run. YES!

Nevertheless, no one said a word. If I'd kept doing it, I would have been written up and fired. Once is not usually a big deal, as previously mentioned.

probably an honest mistake but it would be looked at on tape and the players chips could be taken away

They aren't going to fire her, it's extremely unlikely anyways. Probably a write-up.

I personally know dealers who overpaid while dealing Catch A Wave for her entire 8 hour shift and the floor said nothing.

this has happened to me more times than i can count, its not really unusual - if the floor is paying attention they will reverse the mistake, if not, it's free money in a -EV game so take it and double your bet next hand

i had a fight with a pit boss at the borgata a year ago over something like this and it ended up in my favor, the dealer shipped me chips (i had 18 with 5 cards she had 19, counted wrong, shipped) and dealt the next hand - pit said hey wait you paid wrong blah blah and flat out demanded money back from me, and then told things like "you're stealing from us", "how dare you take our money", etc. - as someone who plays bj there every weekend i was real steamed at these accusations because this stuff happens all the time, and if someone catches it and makes right before the next deal i dont have any problem with it, hell i would given the damn money back and kept playing normally if he hadnt started in yelling at me for stealing and whatnot (people were starting to make a crowd trying to see who was 'stealing' money, lol), fired the black chip at the dealer that i 'owed' and walked off - contacted my host immediately, was contacted back by the vp of gaming or whatever for the casino, got a full report on the incident, explanation that the dealer was entirely in the wrong for the payout, pit boss was written up for improper conduct, full apology, and 300 comp dollars

I was playing in the high limit pit at the Palms and had a very big bet out. The dealer had 17 and drew an 8 to bust!! It was the weirdest thing I ever saw. I was playing heads up and obviously I didn't say a word, nor did I tip him after that because I didn't want the sky to think we were colluding. During the time I was there he also paid a push and when he did the pit boss was even standing right there!!! He must have been high or drunk, but I left not long after the second mistake.

anybody that plays a lot of BJ knows that this happens ALL the time. lots of time it's not in your favor so you have to keep an eye open.

the best situation I've ever been in was playing texas shootout. I can't remember the exact rules but it was something like:

- player posts an ante and an optional side bet
- player gets four cards
- player choose to either:
- discard two cards, or
- "split" the hand into two pairs of two and double the bet
- dealer exposes cards, selects the best two
- deal out five community cards
- best hand wins even money, dealer wins ties

The optional side bet was one of those things where if you get a straight you get 2-1, flush gets 3-1, full house 5-1, etc, up to five of a kind suited getting like 10000-1 or something.

Once we got a dealer that was paying our regular bet according to the side bet pay tables. So sick.
