FTOPS 6max NL 1st hand
I posted this in another thread but didn't actually get any feedback on how the hand was played.
1st hand of the 200 FTOPS NL 6max tournament. 15/30, we all have 2500. Folded to the button who raises to 105, sb calls, I call in the BB with 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Flop 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check, button bets 300, SB calls, I CR to 1000, button folds, SB moves all in. I have 1400 left. What do I do know and how have I played it so far? |

Re: FTOPS 6max NL 1st hand
Wait...
How'd you act first when the SB was in? You and SB check, button made basic c-bet and SB called. You check-raised to 1000 and button shoves. I highly doubt you're against a four and a higher kicker unless it's A4. I think you're against an overpair here. Either that or your opponent thinks you're putting on a play and has something like a NFD + 2 overs. I'm calling. If I bust on the first hand, then that really sucks. But I went out with trips... |

Re: FTOPS 6max NL 1st hand
SB checked first, of course. The rest of the action is correct as I listed it.
I suppose my overall questions about the hand are: 1. Is this an oddly-played overpair or huge draw (A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] maybe?) often enough to make this call? 2. Am I pot committed? Should I just push it all in and hope for the best or fold and try to fight it out with 1/2 a stack? I realize that the blinds are still small, but maybe my tourney EV is greater overall by just pushing? 3. And more generally, how do you view an opponent in one of these things that you've never encountered before? Should he be thought of as a donk, mediocre player, decent player, etc? What, if any, genralizations and assumptions should I make here? 4. And of course, how bad is the PF call? |

Re: FTOPS 6max NL 1st hand
1: Yeah. If he's got the case 4 or flopped the nuts, oh, well, at least you got 3 outs.
2: Maybe you can get away from it, but you should be going for the gamble here. 3: I assume I'm playing logical, great opponents until proven otherwise. Edges appear over time/history, but overall, if you got a postflop edge, take it. 4: Fine in FR, 6max, eh. You're felting flops like those and if you're not calling PF to do that, don't call light. JMHO. Got plenty of flaws to polish also. |

as played is fine, but you HAVE to call this, no way i am folding here on the first hand with trips.
