Re: New kill game rule at WinStar=horrible
Agree with Tx and Phat Mack. Kill always acts in turn, and it is just supposed to pump up the pots and make the game juicier.

Re: New kill game rule at WinStar=horrible
I agree will Al Capone Jr. In Vegas the killer works as he said. I wish the industry would set some rules as to games from different casinos. You always get some poker room manager that gets their information wrong from playing some ware else and now it's a new rule.

Re: New kill game rule at WinStar=horrible
The kill being the effective button would certainly make for an entertaining game. Plenty of action, boy. Fortunately, there's enough dummies who will fight to the end to keep that kill button.
It's last action, preflop, unless a raise before. Always. Unless you've got a moron who doesn't get it dealing at the Winstar. |

You'd have to be absolutely brain dead [censored] retarded to be in the box and telling players the kill acts last on every street. That said, most kill games are O8B games, so I play a bunch of kill games, and FTR the one at the B the kill acts in turn preflop, same for my game here in Dallas, but i think we were letting the kill act last preflop during the series at the rio, but i'm not sure. FTR I think the kill should have last action preflop. |

[/ QUOTE ] Leave it to Cali to tax without benefit. Not giving anything to the one who is forced to post the kill is ridiculous. If I were in a kill game, I might only play AA or KK if I'd won the previous pot, were the kill not given the last option. Otherwise, I'd be paying 1.5 or 2 SBs for a random hand. Insanely -EV. I didn't get into any kill games last week, and now I'm glad I didn't. I know people in LA are nuts, but didn't realize how much! A rule that benefits the game, and even moreso the house, shouldn't massively penalize a single player. How dumb is that? (Fixed my own post) CJ |

Now that I think about it, the first time I played a kill game was in Reno, I believe. It was also in turn. I think. It's been a while.

Now that I think about it, the first time I played a kill game was in Reno, I believe. It was also in turn. I think. It's been a while. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks. You brought a memory back for me. Years ago, I think UCLA students started it, but I know the Dukies did it, too. At basketball games, they held newspapers in front of them, and when the announcer introduced the starting lineups, they'd drop their papers down and shout: California. "Who's that?" Reno "Who cares?" For that to be as funny to anyone else as it is to me, you'd have to be in my mind, I guess, which isn't a fun place to hang out, believe me. But it was incredibly clever of those students "back in the day," and it still makes me smile. Thanks for reminding me. |

Re: New kill game rule at WinStar=horrible
I agree. Kills are too complicated for rooms full of tourists. In Cali, kills are fine because everyone is used to them. In vegas, kills tend to be too complicated for players who've never been in a cardroom before.
Why there are people that are put out about the killer not having all these "advantages" is beyond me. Kill pots are not about giving the killer a special advantage, they are about jacking up the stakes. There are strategy adjustments for kill games, sure, but they are NOT all consuming and bristling with high significance. You make a couple or three small adjustments here and there, beyond that it's yada yada yada bla bla bla ... Al |
