I can't remember off the top of my head exactly, but if just swiping to one side doesn't work, just swipe back right away. But if I remember right, swiping to one side does work if you just swipe a reasonable distance (half a foot ish?).

Are there any sword games other than Zelda or Red Steel?

Not yet. There seems to be a game called No More Heroes that should come out at some undisclosed time next year that's similar, and hopefully will be better than RS.

I have high hopes for No More Heroes. Has the potential to be huge if it is done right. Also, Red Steel 2 should be out in late 2007, I think?

The sword fighting in the new Zelda is a lot more complex than any of the previous Zelda games. For one you can use your sword while riding Epona, which is a really cool feature. Also all the special techniques you learn (like the finishing blow thing and the special moves to defeat armored enemies) are really sweet. It's possible to just shake your wiimote but you can also fight more free style by not Z-targeting the enemies. Possible spoiler in white: If you like swords then Zelda is probably worth it simply for the fencing against the miniboss in the Temple of Time.

Plus the puzzles are all really fun, so not sure why you wouldn't like those.

This is exactly what I was thinking of with my reply. My only complaint is that there isn't WAAAAY more of this in the game. I haven't finished yet, so hoping that there's more yet.
