Default Video Games for a 9 year old (girl)

Cool - perfect forum for this - I bought my 9 year old a lap top recently and am looking for some good video game suggestions for Christmas - she has some games like Shrek and Shrek 2 that are pretty good and need to get some at a similar type level, ideally:

- Not too violent or graphic
- Nothing were you have to do allot of reading (she talks english but only reads Swedish)
- Not too easy, want something that she can play for a while

Any thoughts, comments and suggestions are much appreciated as I need to order whatever I am getting this week as I leave next Friday for Sweden.....Thanks - W

I'm a huge fan of feeding frenzy for xbox, they have a PC version. seems like kids would love it. it's cheap and downloadable.

My 9-year daughter loves Zoo Tycoon 2. She doesn't even try the strategy stuff. She just builds exhibits and watches the animals.

She also likes a site called Club Penguin. Wife and I are debating whether to pay the $5 a month membership so she can buy 'stuff' for her character. She seems to enjoy it and plays the games with her friends.

If she likes sports, then the Backyard Sports series is a solid choice.

FYI -- My 13 year old got into Civilization and LOTR type games at age 11.

Cool thanks for the advice! Hard to find games for kids, especially girls, in that age range - af

Would Roller Coaster Tycoon (or its latest sequel) also be a candidate too?

Yes, though I think the animal angle makes Zoo a slightly better choice for most girls; however, a girl who loves roller coasters would probably love RC Tycoon.

My little sister loved The Sims 2. I'd look into that one.
