In the past 6 seasons, Lloyd Carr is 2-10 against OSU and in Bowl games. He would have been fired at every other major program except Michigan. We tolerate mediocrity like nobody else (see the basketball program).

I think you're right. Michigan seems to reward loyalty by hiring in-house candidates regardless of qualifications. Lloyd may be a poor head coach, but I still think he's a good recruiter who excels at the art of persuasion. Maybe he needs better assistants to manage in-game, but he's a terrific public speaker and motivator.

Doesn't Carr have some type of clause that when he retires from serving the U he gets a better retirement package if it's not as football coach? Thought I remembered reading that, and that is why the rumors have always swirled (in addition to the incompetence shown at times).


The ghost of Bo could have had this team more prepared for the first two weeks of the season.

I lost all respect for Notre Dame the way they dumped George O'Leary two weeks after hiring him then forced him to publicly apologize for meaningless discrepancies on his resume. I doubt that's standard.
