Default Odd / weird foods you eat, most people haven\'t heard of

With the ethnic diversity in this group, I think this may have potential. (Title says it all)

My mom's side of the family is a good chunk Polish, residing in Northern Michigan. Every time we went up there for the holidays when I was a kid, we would play euchre and eat pickled bologna. It is about a 2" diameter bologna sold in rings, that if straightened would be about 12-14 inches long. Kogel's is the most popular brand up there, but living in Chicagoland, I cant find it unless I get into eastern Michigan. (Detroit area)

We usually cut it in 1/4 inch slices (about the size of 2 or 3 poker chips) and ate it on a saltine cracker. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM gooooooood.

Anyone else ever have this?

I'm looking forward to the asian oddities and delicacies, as well as the eastern european stuff. If you can provide places they are available online or speciality stores you know of, please post that too.

istewart is that really you?

Jamaican beef patties. They're not odd but they're really good and I don't think most people have heard of them.

I had to travel through Jamaica Queens during my 4our years of high school.

I used to enjoy eating a Jamaican Beef Pattie on coco bread while drinking a Kola Champagne soda.

No this is a food served cold, (snack, not meal) it is bologna that is pickled in a spiced vinegar.

Something that I had a lot as a kid that some people find strange is cream cheese and jelly. This was a typical sammich for me in grade school. I think this isn't too uncommon though?

The uncommon one we had as kids was peanut butter and mint jelly. My older brother was at my grandparents house and they were out of regular jelly so he asked for mint jelly [and he loved the color green] so he had it and loved it and it has lived on for a long time in our family. Not too crazy, but most people think its odd when they see it and I enjoy one from time to time.

I'm one of the few people I know who love mint in most everything, but even I would hesitate to mix it with peanut butter. The cream cheese and jelly sandwich is very good.
