Bluffing someone off aces
How's this? Preflop was a "[censored] you, I'm going to crack your aces" call, which you will tell me was terrible. But postflop was interesting - I noticed he didn't bet the full pot. And I purposefully made my bet not quite all-in, to make it look more considered - somehow I've found that makes players more likely to fold. I was more worried about whether the small blind had deceptively checked.
So, good or spew? Re: Bluffing someone off aces
You probably have the best hand on the flop, so I don't know if I think this is a bluff

Re: Bluffing someone off aces
i think calling is about as scarey as it gets for AAxx here. you also get to find out if the SB wants to play without committing your stack

Re: Bluffing someone off aces
assuming no one has 78 you are in pretty good shape against the rest of their ranges. You have 14 straight outs and your 2 trip outs.

Re: Bluffing someone off aces
I suppose in an extreme case where they both had high cards and no backdoor flush draws, it could be like this:
1) If BB has As Qc Kd Ah and SB folds Td Jd Qh Ks http://twodimes.net/h/?z=3801985 pokenum -o 7c 6d 4s 3d - ah as kd qc -- 6c 9s 5h / td jd qh ks Omaha Hi: 666 enumerated boards containing 9s 6c 5h cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV 4s 7c 6d 3d 509 76.43 157 23.57 0 0.00 0.764 As Qc Kd Ah 157 23.57 509 76.43 0 0.00 0.236 2) If SB stays in http://twodimes.net/h/?z=3801995 pokenum -o 7c 6d 4s 3d - ah as kd qc - td jd qh ts -- 6c 9s 5h Omaha Hi: 666 enumerated boards containing 9s 6c 5h cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV 4s 7c 6d 3d 465 69.82 201 30.18 0 0.00 0.698 As Qc Kd Ah 110 16.52 556 83.48 0 0.00 0.165 Ts Jd Td Qh 91 13.66 575 86.34 0 0.00 0.137 So yes, if they both have that sort of hand I'm a very big favourite. |

Re: Bluffing someone off aces
The whole hand is standard. You're never going to get anyone to fold AAxx when you push the flop, but it's still the right move to push SB out of the hand.

Re: Bluffing someone off aces
Yeah, they both folded. Thanks, guess it is pretty standard.
